Heh! Five years ago, I used to download songs from this site into my phone, like the original "I've No Idea What I'm Doin'" which I probably listened a few hundreds of times (like, 1 time a day, 5 days a week, for a year) while doing anything but playing videogames. Much has changed in this time, but I see you are making even tastier noisy sundaes.

The fact that this reminds me of those times makes this taste even better.

It's been a long time since I checked your profile. Tomorrow I'll make sure to taste your new flavors and revisit the classic ones.

Thanks for doing what you do even after all this time <3 Many of my favourite musicians from newgrounds have pretty much dissapeared. I appreciate you still being here c:

Have a great day

"Thanks. NG is where I got my first fan base so I'm not gonna leave. Anyway, I don't frequent the BBS like before, mostly due to the end of my college days. My mixing and mastering skills have improved by a lot from 2015, yes, but I think they also lessened the experimental vibe from my newer creations.

If you ask me, nostalgia is what sells lately. Just look at all those remade video games and movies out there (Looking at you, Disney.). In my case, though, the old menus are total garbage on mono speakers and I tried to fix some of them as remasters. :P" — The Manager

Woah, ¿what can I say? To hear your first tracks and then come here and hear this is quite impressive, dude, you have improved a lot. Even though the song may be a little repetitive, it was, at least for me, very confortable to hear. That means nothing sounded too strange, too loud, or too silent, or anything I would generally call "bad". I may actually download this and put it like, in my electronic music playlist which I hear when on the metro ^.^
I personally liked the song in general: the mixing, effects, and all, I guess.
I would have liked to hear a more marked, clear, or varied melody.
So, I guess I've finally paid my debt (?)
Have a good day :)

Orboscar responds:

Thank you! I appreciate your comment. I think I have improved and even more since this track... maybe you could check out my new preview? I'll publish it right now under the name "ID"

Thanks again & have a nice day :)

- I don't think this sounds like a chiptune, but instead like a "Chiptune-like" song. The percussion and the "piano" sounds... A little bit more sophisticated. I say that because of the "[ 8-bit edition ]" part of the title.
- The intro is alright (though, just as a detail, I think at second 12, you could have made the first e note stop a little bit earlier, so that you can hear that those are actually two notes).
- Then, the piano starts playing, and I like it. Just after it, another lead starts at second 45, and I feel that the song loses strength right there, because the lead is left almost alone, with little percussion and a strange bass. Immediately, at second 58, that awkward feelings disappears as the background synths and the percussion reappears.
- 1:35 ==> 1:40 great ^.^
-At 2:01, that long A and F# are asking its creator to put some vibrato in them. Really, they need it. Same goes for F# at 2:10.
-The end is good. I would have added maybe some kind of arpeggio from high to low notes to finish it, but I like it as it is as well.

Overall, good song, but has some relatively easy to solve problems which cause it to sound "not that good" overall. That, of course, doesn't mean it sounds bat at all. In fact, it's much better than my songs lol.

I saw you were skipped again in the R4R forums, so I thought I'd leave you a review so everyone is happy. ^.^

Teckmo-X responds:

Yeah see I was trying my best with this song and I knew it wasn't gonna be perfect. I have the tendency to listen to my music on repeat to try and get a feel of things and I had to rerender this song quite a few times before finalizing it. I did want to put up more towards the ending and zi wanted to also give the bass more feel but it was becoming a bit of a confusing problem so I tried the best I could. Overall its still not all that bad. Thank you

Not sure what to say about the first. I think it's allright, but it's just not my style.

The second one requires tons of work. It kinda sounds... ¿Empty?

Even though the mixing isn't as good in the third, It is the track that I like the most, so I'd rather see you finish that one first. I'd expect you to add more melodies into this one, or it would sound too monotone.

GGMiXsiMusic responds:

Thanks for your vote!

It's 4v2v1 now!

Also, i added a melody for the first one.

So... Did you mean that you imagine the astronaut losing his grip at 0:53, just when the beat stops?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the start and end, I found the panning (I think that's how it's called, I'm not sure) excessive, and that did annoy me. Also, the song was a little short, but it's okay if you don't want to force it to be longer.
Apart from that, I love it, I really do. It does feel more like "suspense", but a calm one, than "sadness"... Maybe like "loneliness"... And that's just what (I think) space feels like.
I look forward to hear more from you, you never disappoint me =)
What planet is next? ^^

Pandasticality responds:

i think kepler 452b is next, i got a few cinematic pieces under the works, shouldn't be too long before i can release them here : 3 thank you for the review!

I'm not sure about what to say, but I'll give it a try.
The intro was well made, as I heard it, I knew something interesting was coming, and it would have been very disappointing otherwise.
I like the percussion, it fits nicely, as it isn't too loud nor it lacks strength. It's just perfect as it is, although, I don't really like noisy songs, and that may affect the way I perceive it (That's good in this case).
That brings another point. I like the mixing of the song, as I can clearly hear everything without problems. Nothing is too loud, nothing is too quiet.
Now, the synth at min 1:10, again, fit nicely, adding the melody I was waiting for during the intro.
But I think it is a bit lazy ... I'm not sure, I think it lacks strength, or variation.
Finally, the ending was clear for me. Even though it wasn't very original, it does what it has to do: to finish the song and don't leave the listener with an awkward feeling of "What has just happened?"
Overall, the song is pretty balanced in almost every aspect, but I think its melody could vary a little more (both in volume and notes) to add more strength to the song.

I like it, I downloaded it, I'm following you ^.^

I'm coming from R4R, but I'm not asking for a review on my songs, so you should get another review soon. (If no one jumps you, wich, by the way, looks like it)
Have a good day.

5TanLey responds:

Yep, mixing is OKish, but I guess I will have to work on composition..

Im glad you enjoyed it and many thanks for review!

I will write a few words to some of your songs as well ;)

For the book of Ioun! I'm agree so much with ZipZipper, this is probably the funniest thing I've heard in newgrounds in... well, as much as I can remember. It's not as if I laughed or something, I meant that this song has so much variation, so many things moving in and out, it's just too intresting and fun to not hear until the end... many times. Now, I don't think I have enough musical knowledge to say something new, sorry about that. Now that I love it, though.
I come from R4R too, but I don't really have a song to post in that forum :P . So, yeah, you should get another review soon. Have a good day... =)

Azhthar responds:

Again wow!!! Thank you so much! I didn´t expect that positive feedback here at all... This is really motivating and you already made my day :)

Wow. I really hope some day I get to be half as good as you at this =)
I did, though, expect a more powerful vibrato from the violin, specially from minute 2:05.
That's all I can say, really. This song is almost perfect (fror me, at least), And I'm definitely downloading it with some other songs of yours.

drumdude responds:

Whoops, somehow missed this review.
Now that you mention it, I agree there is a lack of vibrato from the violin.
Thanks for the review!

The song is alright. It loops perfectly, but it lacks more variation. It may be too repetitive. That, may not be a problem when you encounter a tropical village in your travels, buy some potions, some coconuts, and then leave, but it could be if you are going to spend some time in it like, who knows, completing some quests that requier to walk from one house to another, talking with different npcs, it could be a little annoying. So in that way, it could be perfect, or not, depending on the way you are going to use it. Also, it is good to remember that the music takes up much space in a game, and it is always good to have songs as short as possible, while not being excessive.

In my opinion, the percussion is great, and combined with the instruments used, helps the song to perfectly transmit its intention. I can perfectly imagine myself walking on a little tropical village, and that is very important when making game music.
Overall, I think the song would work very well combined with some ambient sounds.
Good Day =)

Drewpy responds:

I wrote this theme specifically for a character's home town in an RPG my friend and I are making. Yeah, the space was an issue, and we found that out the hard way, but it's fixed now. I used separate ambience (waves crashing and seagulls) that I didn't include in the track because I wanted it to be more spontaneous. There's no side quests in the town, and there's really nothing to do there at all, so repetitiveness isn't a problem. The town has it's own theme however, because there's a school and other significant crap in it that's important to the plot of the game. TL;DR: Thanks for the review!

I've been hearing your songs from "Orbo-Reminisce", and after some minutes of collecting my ideas, this is what I have to say (and hopefully, help).
I have the feeling that your songs can't "hold themselves", making me feel like something is missing (and probably is).
Thus, what I think you should focus on is the "base" (or whatever that's called) of your song, as it represents the fundations of your song. What I mean by base is like... a series of chords and percussion that will hold the song, but does not have any melody at all. Once you have a strong base, the song should sound fine just as it is. Then, you can add melodies and stuff.
So... About percussion, all I can say is I'm terrible at it, so I can't really help with that, although, I find them decent.
Overall, the song requires a lot more work to be able to hold itself. The melody is decent, but requires more variation, and the same could probably be said of the percussion. Those background sounds (which I have not idea of how are they called)... I kinda liked them, but they won't be able to hold the melody by themselves. So, work at the base, the fundations of your song, and you should get a much better result.
Have a good day, bye!

Orboscar responds:

yes ive made some new songs not posted them yet. yhanks for ur advice!

I'm sort of a videogame developer wannabe and a failure as a musician.
I love hard constructive criticism because there is no better way to improve.
Maybe one day I'll upload a videogame here and someone will happen to read this? x.x
ps: I love snails <3
